Low Vision Care

Our optometrists have undertaken further training to be part of the Welsh Government-funded Low Vision Service Wales scheme. If you already have a vision impairment or low vision (i.e. not being able to see as well as other people, when wearing glasses or contact lenses), or are registered as sight impaired or severely sight impaired our optometrists can provide a specialist assessment.

LOW VISION ASSESSMENT
The assessment is designed for us to be able to discuss your eye condition and the difficulties this may present in your day to day life in an in-depth manner. We usually then to try out a number of different low vision aids such as handheld or stand magnifiers, typoscopes, task lights, electronic magnifiers, shields, reading stands etc. tailored to your requirements. After this we can decide which low vision aids may best help you and how to use them to best effect. Aids will then be ordered free of charge for you to take home on loan for as long as you may need them.

SPECIALIST, TAILORED ADVICE
We can give you specialist advice on your condition and also help you get in touch with local services that may be of help such as clubs and societies, social services, or other medical professionals.
