Specialist Independent Prescribing Optometrist & Director

Ceri comes from Pontarddulais near Swansea and studied in Cardiff University where he met Lisa. He has a broad range of experience in eye care, having worked in a wide variety of practices across Wales. Ceri previously represented Wales on the council of the College of Optometrists (the UK’s professional, scientific and examining body), was a board member of Optometry Wales. As well as this, he worked in Brecon Hospital where he became one of the first optometrists in the UK to be trained in intravitreal eye injections, and as a tutor with NHS Health Education and Improvement where he trained and assessed optometrists across the country in enhanced clinical services. He currently sits as the Community Optometrist Lead on the North Ceredigion Primary Care Cluster, and enjoys working with the cluster to develop projects to help the health needs of local people.

Ceri holds a postgraduate diploma in clinical optometry, and professional certificates in medical retina, glaucoma and low vision, and like Lisa, he has achieved Independent Prescribing status. In 2020, he was awarded the College of Optometrists' Fellowship, the College's highest award recognising dedication to continual development and contributions to the profession as a whole, and in 2021 he was a finalist in the Optician Awards (UK) 'Optometrist of the Year'.

Over the years, he has travelled to Romania and Uganda on charity eye care trips, and has also worked in fitting contact lenses for film and TV productions. In his spare time Ceri enjoys cheering on the ‘Scarlets’ and taking his dog Nel on hikes with Lisa and their daughter Mabli.

He has special interests in dry eye, therapeutics, medical retina and myopia management, and is learning Welsh.
